AM welcomes news that free sanitary products will be offered to patients in NHS Wales

Gower Assembly Member, Rebecca Evans AM, has welcomed a Welsh Labour Government announcement that free sanitary products will be available to all women in Welsh hospitals.
 
This announcement will ensure that everyone in Wales is able to access essential sanitary products. The Welsh Government has already committed more than £1m to tackle period poverty in our schools and communities.
 
Until now, the provision of sanitary products for hospital inpatients has varied across Wales, as each health board has had their own policy. 
 
Rebecca Evans AM said, “Patients rightly expect to receive the best possible care, comfort and dignity. It is excellent news that policy will be implemented as soon as possible.
 
“It is clearly unacceptable for anyone not to be able to access essential sanitary products because they can’t afford them, particularly when they are receiving treatment in hospital.”
