This is terrible news for the Dawnus workforce.
I have been in urgent contact with the Economy Minister, Ken Skates AM, and have asked him to set up a taskforce to coordinate support activities for the workforce. He has agreed. I am keen that Welsh Government works with other construction companies which might be able to take on some of the affected staff, and with CITB to ensure that apprenticeships can find new placements, as well as ensuring that the Welsh Government’s ReAct programme is fully in place. There will be significant impacts on the wider supply chain which will also need to be addressed. There are a number of Welsh public sector contracts which were being delivered by Dawnus, and we need to ensure that delay and extra costs are kept to the absolute minimum. Comments are closed.
