Gower AM meets Parentkind

Rebecca Evans AM, Assembly Member for Gower, has met with Parentkind to hear about the important role that parents can play in their children’s education and school life.

Parentkind is the new name for PTA UK - a charity that champions parents and seeks to build successful home-school relationships.

Rebecca Evans said: “When it comes to how well a child does at school, parents really do matter. Research tells us that parental participation is a more powerful influence on a child’s attainment than family background, family size, or level of parental education.”

During the event Mrs Evans joined with other Assembly Members in signing up to the Parentkind Pledge.

Mrs Evans added: “In signing the pledge, I am showing that I consider the active participation of parents an essential ingredient in the success of our children’s education, and am setting out my commitment to supporting educational policies that bring homes and schools together.”
